About Studocu:

We even offer cutting-edge AI learning tools such as Studocu AI and Class Recording on the Studocu app.

Now, we’re looking for more exceptional talent to help us build what’s next. Join our team of 132+ talented, unique and ambitious individuals from all over the world - just like the students who use our platform - and let’s grow smarter, together.

About this opportunity:

As the Engineering Manager for our On-Platform team, you’ll take ownership of one of our most critical product surfaces: the document page. This is where millions of students interact with our core experience every day. You’ll lead a high-performing team at the intersection of product, engineering, and AI - shaping how users discover, engage with, and benefit from our content at scale.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll combine product thinking, technical depth, and people leadership to drive meaningful improvements. You’ll work in a fast-paced, data-driven environment, experimenting, learning, and iterating quickly - while helping your team do their best work.

What you’ll be doing in this role:

  • Lead and grow a cross-functional team of engineers through coaching, mentorship, and clear direction

  • Own the performance, reliability, and evolution of the document page - one of our highest-traffic product areas

  • Partner closely with Product and Design to define strategy, priorities, and user-centric solutions

  • Use data and user insights to identify opportunities, optimise journeys, and drive measurable impact

  • Bring AI into the core of how your team works and builds - improving both workflows and product capabilities

  • Navigate changing priorities and help the team make smart trade-offs with clarity and confidence

  • Collaborate with Engineering Managers and leadership to align on strategy and resolve dependencies

  • Ensure engineering has a strong voice in product decisions, balancing speed, quality, and long-term scalability

  • Stay close to the technical work, contributing to deep discussions and guiding architectural decisions

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading and managing engineers

  • Experience working in product-led environments with a strong focus on user impact and metrics

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with Product and Design

  • Experience building or optimising high-traffic web platforms (SEO knowledge is a strong plus)

  • Solid technical background in backend or full-stack development (distributed systems experience is a plus)

  • Familiarity with modern web technologies such as TypeScript, Laravel, and SSR frameworks like Next.js

  • Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g. LLMs) in engineering or product workflows

  • A builder mindset with a track record of improving systems, processes, or team effectiveness

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to align diverse stakeholders

  • A pragmatic, hands-on leadership style with a bias for action, ownership, and continuous improvement

Other things that will make you the ideal candidate for us:

  • You’re currently a resident in the Netherlands, a commutable distance from our office in Amsterdam

  • You’re someone who will enjoy coming to our office at least twice per week!

Why you'll love it here:
