Engineering Manager - Build & Deploy team - EdTech

On-site, Hybrid
  • Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands

Job description

Studocu was founded on the principle that equal access to study notes reduces inequality between students. Today, we make it easy for more than 45+ million students to share notes every month and use cutting-edge AI learning tools (like Quizzes, AI Chat, and Ask-AI) to help them ace their study goals. The product was a rocket ship from day one and has shown strong product-market fit on every continent with enviable YoY growth, making us a key player in the exploding EdTech space.

The role of EM for the Build & Deploy team is highly dynamic and operational: you are the main person responsible for ensuring our application code is properly and frequently deployed to our production environment. That means keeping an eye out for successful deploys, identifying improvements to our deployment strategy and infrastructure and helping the team implement such improvements in quick iterations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Keeping our deploys running frequently and smoothly;

  • Ensuring Developer experience is top notch by managing the team that maintains our local and staging environments;

  • Being the point of contact for DX and deployment questions internally.

Why you'll love it here:
  • You will immediately help decide on conventions and the roadmap of the team;

  • The workload is diverse, touching on many different infrastructural subjects and technologies.

What our process looks like:

  • First, there is an screening call with our TA Partner to get to know you better;
  • If that goes well, you will receive a coding assignment followed by a system design interview with the hiring manager, an engineering manager from another team and someone from the Build & Deploy team. This will take about 2 hours;
  • The final step in the process is an interview with the CTO.

Job requirements

  • Strong communicator who doesn’t mind dealing with unhappy devs;
  • Quick and logical thinker who can quickly identify problems and steer reports to solve them;

  • Significant experience with CI/CD systems is a requirement. Not just “having used it once”, but actually maintaining it at least 2 years;

  • Computer science degree (Bsc) is a strong plus;

  • You are adaptive to change and a real team leader.
