Job description

Studocu was founded on the principle that equal access to study notes reduces inequality between students. Today, we make it easy for more than 45+ million students to share notes every month. The product was a rocket ship from day one and has shown strong product-market fit on every continent, making us a key player in the exploding EdTech space. We received a $50 million Series B investment so we’re in rapid growth and scale mode, and we need serious talent to help us make it happen.

As the newly appointed CFO, you provide financial and strategic leadership to further amplify StuDocu’s skyrocketing revenue growth objectives and business development.

Together with your Finance team, you will develop opportunities for strategic investment, improve operational efficiencies, and deploy effective processes to achieve our long term financial objectives across all teams. As a key decision-maker, you will help the Management Team formulate strategy, pursue fundraising efforts and M&A targets where we see fit, to accelerate our journey to become one of the biggest EdTech companies in the world. Furthermore, you’re also responsible for managing and executing all aspects of our strategic finance, accounting, legal and compliance processes.

If you are a passionate leader with a true entrepreneurial spirit, are ready to roll up your sleeves, have a deeply analytical background and a bias for action, you will love it here!

What you'll be doing here:

  • Serve as a strategic partner and financial advisor to the CEO, leadership team and Board to shape the overall direction for StuDocu.

  • Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.

  • Provide functional leadership to make finance a strategic asset, by building the team’s capability to provide every team leader with insightful and actionable data, and effectively monitor and analyze financial results.

  • Build a world-class finance organization by hiring, inspiring, and leading a strong team.

  • Build and execute the financing strategy to meet the company’s near and long term objectives.

  • Oversee the strategy and implementation of key financial processes, programs, and tools that enable StuDocu to achieve ambitious goals:
    • Oversee annual budgeting, monthly forecast reporting and reviews, P&L and cash forecasting and generally helping the business closely manage their investments.

    • Identify, develop and execute analysis of business initiatives, product launches and/or new service offerings.

    • Ensure our financials are accurate, on time and meet the financial control & reporting requirements of our Board, investors and tax authorities.

    • Ensure tax, legal and corporate compliance on all financial functions, everywhere in the world.

    • Own end-to-end management and review of StuDocu’s annual required audit and liaise between accountants, auditors, audit committee, and leadership team.

  • Lead Fundraising projects, M&A targets, due diligence efforts and post-merger integration.

  • Oversee legal compliance including legal risk management, product, IP and data privacy compliance efforts.

Why you are going to love it here:
  • We have a solid foundation, now it's time to go above and beyond.
  • All parts of the business are aware of how critical having a strategic Finance Team is.
  • Your fellow management team members have a distinguished pedigree in scaling global tech companies (Uber, Just Eat, Knabb & Hubs)

Job requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8+ years of finance experience and 5+ years of exceptional track record of inspiring, leading, and scaling finance teams in a high-growth digital environment, preferably a B2C subscription business.

  • Having served as CFO in a scale-up technology company with ARR above €50m is a must.

  • Proven success in taking a business through scale and building Finance to support that growth.

  • Experienced with financial consolidation while working at a company that operated in multiple countries.

  • Large-scale program and project management skills.

  • Experience leading large scale fundraising rounds, M&A processes and post-merger integrations.

  • Empathetic personality with solid organizational awareness.

  • Strong executive presence, including excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to take initiative and build strong, productive relationships.

  • Strategic Orientation, ability to see beyond the numbers and serve as a true voice regarding strategic matters facing the organization.

  • Bias towards execution and achieving results.
