We are looking for a Staff Engineer Backend to join our New Users / SEO team to help 50+ million students all around the world to get better at studying!
As a part of this team, you will be working with talented engineers on up-to-date technologies to help support Studocu’s business. You will bring our backend codebase up to the best standards and be our expert in leveraging SEO to deliver high-quality content to students worldwide.
You will work with a team of engineers, designers, QAs, data analysts, and a Product Manager, and use modern product-led growth methodologies like those used by Google, Uber, and Dropbox. We use a modern tech stack, including PHP 8 and Laravel 9 (migrating to 10), and React. Our cloud infrastructure is hosted in AWS. You will spend 25% of your time working on tech projects impacting the company as a whole, and 75% of your time focusing on projects within the New Users / SEO Team sharing your backend expertise with fellow engineers.

Setting others up for success by mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance, at the same time ensuring technical excellence across the team.
You will create your own snazzy technical roadmaps and influence the long-term strategy of the whole development team.
You will have a say in critical decisions about the tech stack of Studocu used by 60+ techies.

Our process:
To be successful in this role, this is the kind of profile we have in mind:
5+ years of experience with PHP development.
Strong experience with the latest versions of PHP and Laravel.
Solid understanding of database design and management, including proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases.
Experience leading complex technical projects from idea to final result.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, to be able to work effectively in a team and multicultural environment.
Knowledge of cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Experience working in high-traffic platforms with 1M+ users. (nice to have)
Good understanding of front-end technologies such as Typescript, React, and NextJS (nice to have).
