Senior Performance Marketer

Job description

StuDocu was founded on the principle that equal access to study notes reduces inequality between students. We make it easy for students to share notes. The product was a rocket ship from day one and has shown strong product-market fit on every continent, making us a key player in the exploding EdTech space. We just received a $50 million series B investment so we’re in rapid growth and scale mode, and we need serious talent to help us make it happen.

The key to StuDocu’s rapid growth is the viral loop at the center of the product: the more study materials students add, the more students we attract; the more students we attract, the more study materials they add. We’re building a new Growth Team to tackle two problems: (1) kickstarting the viral loop by attracting students to add the first study notes at universities and schools; (2) acquiring students with the notes we already have. Laser-focused and ROI-efficient performance marketing is critical for both.

We need an autonomous and growth-minded Performance Marketer, with a keen commercial instinct, to test and scale winning PPC playbooks. The immediate focus is on improving our existing paid social campaigns - Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Quora, YouTube and Display - but we’re a young team full of opportunities for the curious. You’ll fully own the strategy and the budget, reporting to the VP Growth. As the workload scales, we want this role to grow into a Performance Marketing Lead/Manager, responsible for a team of 2-4 Performance Marketers working multiple channels in multiple markets.

We have an incredibly popular product, an experienced marketing team, a great data stack, a thorough understanding of our target audience, a team of data scientists and operations specialists to help with labour-intensive tasks, and a blue ocean of opportunities. All in all a very nice setup. We just need you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Autonomously manage the daily execution of paid social ads: setting the overall strategy; defining ROI targets; audience targeting; testing and scaling new campaigns and creatives; analysis and reporting.

  • Work with the Data Team to set up pixel and event tracking for new channels.

  • Work closely with our Operations Team and Regional Leads to build new campaigns across hundreds of new universities and schools each year.

  • Work closely with our Design Team to conduct customer research and iterate on ad creatives.

  • Launch and manage multiple split tests at the same time, reporting on successes, failures and insights to the rest of the Growth Team.

  • Report on overall performance and to the VP Growth.

  • Hire, onboard and train Performance Marketers to launch and optimise your winning playbooks at new universities and schools across multiple markets.

  • Proactively upskill yourself and contribute to other people’s and team’s projects, ensuring StuDocu operates with industry best practices.

Why you'll love it here:

  • Working with smart people from many other disciplines: design, content, paid search, operations, branding, data analysis, data science, product management/development.

  • We’re way beyond finding product-market fit. We have an incredibly popular product.

  • Great data stack and a thorough understanding of our target audience.

  • Team of data scientists and operations specialists to help with labour-intensive tasks.

  • A blue ocean of opportunities.

  • Large budget to execute on.

Requirements

  • Great team player. Growth is a team sport.

  • Experience taking the lead in any marketing function, owning successful strategies and tactics end-to-end.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing large campaigns and budgets on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Quora, YouTube or Display.

  • Advanced data analysis skills using Google Analytics and Google Sheets; proficiency in SQL is a big plus.

  • A solid understanding of A/B testing and statistical analyses.

  • Advanced experience with pixel and event tracking and Google Tag Manager (via Segment).

  • Creative and rational approach to problem-solving, but goal-oriented with a bias for action.

  • Strong verbal and written communicator, with a knack for synthesising complex information into clear and concise insights.

  • Bonus points: experience in startup/growth environments; experience in a cross-functional role; experience with Mixpanel or Metabase; great microcopy.
