The difference you will make:

As the newly appointed Director of Legal, you provide guidance and leadership to further amplify and de-risk StuDocu’s skyrocketing revenue growth objectives and business development.

Together with the team, you will ensure we are on top of the regulatory frameworks in all the countries we operate, and that we function according to the highest levels of compliance across all the departments, without harming growth. As a key decision-maker, you will help the extended management team formulate strategy and execute on them, to accelerate our journey to become one of the biggest EdTech companies in the world. Furthermore, you’re also responsible for managing and executing all aspects of our legal work in coordination with the Operations team.

A Typical day:

  • Develop and lead Studocu’s legal strategy, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations;

  • Manage IP, privacy, commercial and corporate matters with a pragmatic and business-oriented approach;

  • Provide legal and strategic advice to executive teams and various departments within the company;.

  • Negotiate and draft various commercial contracts, partnerships, and confidentiality agreements;

  • Oversee daily legal operations and coordinate actions with external advisors when necessary;

  • Ensure constant legal monitoring and train teams on best practices and new regulations;

  • Actively participate in leadership team meetings and play a key role in the company's strategic decisions.


The recruitment process:

  1. Introductory chat with a Recruiter;
  2. Interview with the CEO to learn more about the role;
  3. Case study round with Operations leaders;
  4. Final leadership interview with some members from the extended Management Team and the CEO.

Job requirements

  • You have at least 10 years of experience as a lawyer or legal counsel, with significant experience in a company, ideally in a high-growth environment;

  • You have a generalist expertise, capable of handling a variety of matters ranging from commercial to privacy to corporate. Bonus points if you have a solid experience with intellectual property matters;

  • You have demonstrated management skills and are comfortable inspiring others;

  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills and can position yourself as a true business partner to various departments;

  • Pragmatic and hands-on, you know how to take charge of complex and urgent cases;

  • You can work independently while being an active and collaborative team player.
