Backend Developer

Job description

At StuDocu we believe in one thing: setting knowledge free will help humanity overcome its greatest challenges. StuDocu is the world’s leading community for university students. Every month we help more than 15 million university students to get smarter, faster. Being active in over 60 countries already and accelerated by a recent investment of 50 million USD, we are well on our way to completing our mission of supporting all higher education students around the globe!

We are looking for a talented addition to our team who is a wizard with PHP 7 and knows what's good in the latest version of Laravel. You will work together with 20+ back-end, full-stack, and front-end experts to develop and maintain a lightning-fast and fully tested backend. We keep our tech stack up to date, but that also means you have your ways to stay on top of the news when it comes to PHP and SQL. StuDocu Tech teams work in two-week sprints and all developers work with PMs to draw and verify specifications whenever possible. We will continue to balloon as much as possible, so joining us now gives you the opportunity to be one of our team leaders in the future.

Why you'll love it here:

  • You will be helping to build a product that aids many millions of students worldwide to excel in their courses.
  • We are using the latest technologies and updating the older ones whenever possible.
  • Flexible, ambitious, and eager to learn team, bringing your own ideas to the table is more than welcome.
  • Your own workspace including hardware of your choosing.
  • A free healthy lunch and unhealthy snacks every day when in the office.
  • An awesome office in the centre of Amsterdam with a huge garden, right next to the canals.

What our process looks like:

  • First, there is a short introductory call with our recruiter to get to know you better.
  • Then, a second call with StuDocu's CTO to touch base and tell you more about the future of our Tech teams and products.
  • If that goes well, you will receive a coding assignment followed by a technical interview with your future team leader as a last step of the recruitment process.

We're looking forward to your application!

*During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are still interviewing and hiring, but all conversations will obviously be via video call! For now, StuDocu adopted a flexible remote-first policy, but we still require our 70+ employees to be located in or near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. We encourage our employees to visit the office once every other week to build relationships and socialize while abiding by the safety rules. When it's safe again, you will be able to take full advantage of our bright office in the center of Amsterdam with canals, restaurants, and cafes right around the corner.
